An Experienced, Qualified Couples Counselor Can Really Help
Most therapists have the best of intentions, and the majority are competent and qualified as individual counselors. Unfortunately, couples counseling is a totally different animal, therapeutically speaking, and a counselor can do MORE HARM than good if they are inexperienced or simply trying use individual therapeutic techniques with a couples.
How do you choose an experienced, good couples counselor?
I have been practicing for over 22 years, dedicating myself to helping couples and improving their relationships through couples counseling. Between 50-80% of my practice has been couples for over 15 years at any given time, and I am very comfortable with the dynamic of making the couple whole and healthy again. I have experience in almost any set of complicated issues a couple comes to me with, including partners that have additional issues such as depression, PTSD, or grief. I have found that being active and directive, as well as promoting empathy and communication in partners is most effective. I have seen many couples over the years in my practice work through their issues and become a stronger, more connected, loving couple than they ever were.
You Have probably thought about calling for months, even years. You can feel better, and the time might be now.
